Today I received a very nice pedometer from a freecycler, two in fact, the other I gave to my brother. I clipped it onto my trousers and within a very short time I’d already done over 1500 steps. It even talks to you and sets you targets which is a great way to monitor progress.
This is all part of my 101 list to get more exercise and to also monitor so I can see my progress. I plan on keeping a tally of daily step totals and see about improving on it each day.
Read the full story »As part of my 101 list I decided to add to my list about being a vegan and sticking with it. If I have any amount of dairy, once a month I suffer like you wouldn’t believe.
I am quite literally bed bound for days and cursing myself for the dairy slip ups
that led me to be in that much pain. In fact it was only by becoming a vegan to begin with that I even discovered that dairy was the culprit for my monthly suffering.
I clearly have an intolerance (we all do technically speaking, but clearly mine is heightened) for dairy.
So, the initial challenge on my 101 list is to stick to being a vegan for a month. The idea being if I can stick with it for that time and get into good eating habits it won’t stop at the end of the month, but carry on afterwards.
I am just over a week away from completing that task and so far so good. The key for me is in making my food interesting and varied, trying out new things.
There are more dairy free alternatives then ever before and I have spotted that the Co-op have been changing their own brands to be vegan friendly, even down to biscuits. So really, there’s no reason why I can’t carry it on after the one month challenge is complete.
I really must go through these updates and number them otherwise it will be pretty meaningless when viewing through the archives is they all have the same title.
Right, back to he updates.
Watched X-Men Origins: Wolverine and was left feeling pretty much the same as when I watched Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. Good film, but didn’t really tell me anything new. Felt a bit pointless really. On the plus side it’s always nice to get an eyeful of Hugh Jackman
I’ve picked my “Actions to change the world” from we are what we do, as part of my 101 project. I’ve gone with Action 126, Write a letter.
The reason I went for, what could seem something pretty simple and easy, is because honestly, how many of us actually send a hand written letter anymore? I know I don’t and I also do enjoy getting a hand written letter from a friend, so I plan on writing my letter today and adding a few goodies with it just for fun.
I’ve been chatting with a friend about the 101 in 1001 days challenge and trying to encourage her to have a go. She showed me her list and said she’ll likely wait to start the count down when she has her list complete (she has nearly as many items on her list as I have).
I have some in progress and now a few complete. I finished listening to the audiobook of Artemis Fowl yesterday. Was left a bit underwhelmed. Well written, but struck me as nothing more the a hostage story and the fantasy elements seem a bit flat really. Not my cup of tea I guess.
You may remember, back in January, I wrote a post on a hidden clause in the Coroners and Justice Bill, (Clause 152) yet to be passed:
Clause 152 would have provided powers to use data gathered for one purpose for any other across government and both the public and private sectors via ‘Information Sharing Orders’. It would even have allowed mass transfer of personal information across international borders. It would have vastly accelerated the building of the database state. -NO2ID
I have ‘blacked’ out my blog in support of the New Zealand Internet blackout protest.
How long before we have ‘finger police’ and curfews for all I wonder?
Whenever there is war, famine or disaster it is not uncommon to hear of appeals from charities raising money for aid, so why it is, that Disasters Emergency Committee is being denied airtime with UK TV channels now?
Before Christmas I found out from a twitter member about working conditions with Amazon UK and was naturally disgusted:
Amazon staff punished for being ill
The recent arrest of Damien Green, who was held for 9 hours, with both his homes and offices, including in the House of Commons, were searched and his computer, phone and other communications equipment seized …
